James Bartleman (Canada) became the first Native Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario in 2002 after a distinguished career of more than 35 years in the Canadian foreign service. He also previously served as Foreign Policy Advisor to the right Prime Minister Jean Chrétien. The author of the prize-winning memoir Out of Muskoka, Bartleman presents As Long as the River Flows, a devastating and inspiring story of one First Nation woman who gives up her daughter to try and find her son while also coming to terms with her past.
