We have to include a few more photos from IFOA Markham because they are oh-so good! Below, Dany Laferrière explains to the audience what it is like for him to speak in English, which is not his mother tongue. He demonstrates the “beautiful” face (certainly one of concentration) that people often make as they attempt to understand what he is saying beneath his accent.

The Town of Markham gave our authors a warm welcome at IFOA Markham on October 21, 2011. The stage was dressed with flags to represent the cultural connections of each author. The Mayor of the Town of Markham, Frank Scarpitti, welcomed the guests at an hour long reception in honour of the International Festival of Authors coming to town!
