Who will be acclaimed with stories started by professional writers and finished by high school students?

Write Across Ontario will give four winning students, one from each grade, $500 and their story published online in the Open Book Magazine.

It was easy to recruit award-winning authors Miriam Toews, Johanna Skibsrud and Ian Rankin for the story-starter competition, says Geoffrey Taylor, director of Authors at Harbourfront Centre. “Everybody believes, whether it’s young readers or young writers, that’s the future of publishing,” he says…

We were lucky to partner with the Writers’ Trust of Canada and the Metcalf Foundation for the very first time this year to present an evening with the finalists of the 2011 Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize at IFOA Hamilton (Oct.27). The evening was presented in partnership with Bryan Prince Bookseller and A Different Drummer Books.
