For those who used a Haggadah on the weekend, the new one by Jonathan Safran Foer and Nathan Englander is definitely worth checking out, even if only for the beautiful watercolour washes and letterforms. (For those who don’t know, the Haggadah is the Jewish text read during the holiday of Passover.)
Englander was just at Harbourfront Centre, as part of the 38th season of AUTHORS. He read from his new collection of short stories entitled What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank – also worth checking out!
You can read a review of the New American Haggadah in the National Post’s blog, The Afterword.

As March comes to a close, so does the first Write Across Ontario creative writing competition. Just in case you missed it, the last two winning stories are up online, written by Tamara Southward (Grade 11) and Mik Opolski (Grade 12).
In fact, you can read all four winning entries, right here, thanks to Open Book: Ontario.
What a pleasure it has been to take a peek at the work of so many young, talented writers in Ontario. We were overwhelmed by all the clever and creative entries submitted by high school students around the province.
Thanks again to all who participated! We look forward to reading more from you in the future.
