Toronto International Festival of Authors’ Lit On Tour Programme Brings World-Class Writers to Ontario Communities

The provincial initiative kicks off in Orillia on July 21st and continues with events across Ontario this fall

TORONTO, July 10, 2018 — Returning for its 12th edition this year, Lit On Tour is set to once again bring some of the world’s most exciting contemporary writers to communities across Ontario. An initiative of the Toronto International Festival of Authors, a charitable organization mandated to cultivate and advance the art of literature, Lit On Tour partners with libraries, schools and other community organizations to connect readers province-wide with immersive literary activities. Events include book signings, readings, authors in conversation and Q&A sessions that ignite curiosity and enthusiasm for the written word.

The unique touring event allows participants outside of Toronto the opportunity to take part in enriching activities that might not otherwise be available in their region, while authors and publishers enjoy inroads to reaching new audiences. A few of this year’s distinguished participants include Kim’s Convenience playwright and screenwriter, Ins Choi, author and host of CBC’s The Goods, Andrea Bain, New York Times bestselling author, Joy Fielding and more.

“Lit On Tour provides rare and unique opportunities for readers across Ontario to meet, hear and learn from some of the most important writers of our time,” says Geoffrey E. Taylor, Director, Toronto International Festival of Authors. “It’s a very special—and often once in a lifetime—experience for book lovers to meet authors face to face and hear their stories read aloud in their own voices.”

Lit On Tour will travel to fourteen Ontario cities: Orillia (July 21), Owen Sound (October 4), Aurora (October 10), Cobourg (October 14), Etobicoke (October 16), Woodstock (October 19), Windsor (October 20), Goderich (October 21) Midland (October 24), Scarborough (October 24), Oakville (October 25), Markham (October 26), Thunder Bay (October 30), and Keswick (November 16).

The following authors will be touring Ontario to talk about their latest works and literary careers: Kamal Al-Solaylee, Andrea Bain, Arjun Basu, Randy Boyagoda, Ann Y.K. Choi, Ins Choi, Craig Davidson, Joy Fielding, Kim Fu, Brian Goldman, Jack “J.L.” Granatstein, Catherine Hernandez, Mojca Kumerdej, Carrianne Leung, Lesley Livingston, Canisia Lubrin, Tina Makereti, Kim Moritsugu, Molly O’Keefe, Ondjaki, Nathan Ripley, Eden Robinson, Ruby Slipperjack, Mary Sullivan and Tim Wynne-Jones.
